Sometimes we lose contact with people that are important to us. Family members, old friends, colleagues, lovers, or even co-workers. If you’ve come to a point that you’re trying to reconnect with someone and only know their name it’s important to know how to find people by name. Fortunately, in the age of the internet there’s a good number of ways to do just this. Not every way will work, but in the event that one method doesn’t work there are a few more you can try before you give up your search. We’re going to look at a few common methods you can use to find people if all you have is a name.

Using Social Media to Find People.
Almost everyone is on social media, and that makes it easy to find almost anyone by name. Facebook is exceptionally good for this because it requires its users to sign up using their real name. Other sites like Twitter and Instagram, for instance, don’t have this requirement but it’s still relatively common practice for people to use their real names.
All of that being said, this method is far from perfect. For instance, even though Facebook requires you to use your real name it’s easy enough to use a real enough sounding name and the site won’t catch it. Websites that don’t require a real name are even easier to make this method hit a wall because someone could reasonably make their username something that has nothing to do with their name.
Using an Online Background Check Company.
Online background check companies have been around for a while now. These companies access public records from all over the country and provide instant results, so there’s a good chance that you’d be able to easily find someone’s contact information like phone number, mailing address, and email address this way if those are both available on public record.
This method can be a little tricky though. Anyone can request for their information to be removed from a specific site and if they do that their information wouldn’t be available. There’s also the trickiness that can arise if someone changes their name. A name change doesn’t always throw a wrench in the gears of your search, but it can happen.
The Last Resort for Finding Someone by Name.
This method may seem a little extreme, but if you’ve exhausted all of your other options and really need to find the person you’re looking for hiring a private investigator may be your only hope. There’s no guarantee that they’d be able to find the person you’re looking for just by name, especially if the person in question has a common name, but it’s worth looking into in the worst-case scenario.
Reconnecting to People the Easy Way.
Life happens sometimes, and when it does that can result in being separated from people that are important to us. Fortunately, the internet has plenty of tools that have made reconnecting with people a breeze. Most people can be found with a quick search on Facebook or another social media outlet, and even if that method fails you there are other ways you can go about finding someone’s information with just a name. No one likes being separated from people they find important, and being reunited with such people is always a fantastic feeling.
